Mack C. Karbon has a profound commitment to safeguarding workers’ rights and brings experience in civil rights, labor law, and employment litigation. They are the new June D.W. Kalijarvi Employment Law Fellow at Kalijarvi, Chuzi, Newman & Fitch, P.C. They graduated from Washington University School of Law in May 2023.


Mack’s passion for workplace justice was ignited during their 1L summer at the Delaware Department of Justice’s Community Engagement Unit, where they witnessed the transformative power of fair employment practices. They also served as a judicial extern for Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Administrative Judge Neile Eisner and as an intern at the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, Employment Litigation Section.


Their diverse experience includes conducting research, drafting litigation documents, evaluating discrimination claims, and actively participating in legal proceedings. Their commitment to the public interest is exemplified by their role as a Stuart L. Oelbaum Public Interest Fellow and as a senior editor at the Washington University Jurisprudence Review. Their experience has also led to their developing a particular interest in litigation pertaining to queer rights and gender affirming care.


Mack’s academic achievements include earning the CALI Award for the highest grade in a law school class, the Award for Excellence in Oral Advocacy, Washington University’s Scholars in Law program, and publication of their note, “Free Exercise in the Covid Era: The New Court’s Kantian Approach to Religion.”
