Luis Meléndez’s Article Selected as Finalist for Esteemed Dateline Awards

Luis MeléndezKalijarvi, Chuzi, Newman & Fitch is pleased to announce that Luis Meléndez’s article, Amen to the Passing of the Establishment Clause?, originally published in Washington Lawyer, has been selected as a finalist in the Dateline Awards given annually by the Washington, D.C., Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

The article is a finalist in the Commentary category under the Newsletters/Trade Publications division of the awards and examines recent developments in the case law behind religious freedom and discrimination against marginalized groups.

All winners are announced at the chapter’s annual Dateline Awards and Hall of Fame dinner held each June at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

Each year the D.C. Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists honors excellence in journalism. The Washington, D.C., Chapter’s Dateline Awards recognizes print, digital and broadcast journalists in the greater D.C. metropolitan area, including Northern Virginia and Maryland.

Work can be submitted in seven divisions:

  • Online Publications

Within each division, there are more than 18 categories, from breaking news to features, commentary, photography, and design.
