Samantha Sloane to Moderate NELA Convention Session on Implicit Bias Evidence

KCNF attorney Samantha Sloane will moderate a panel discussion at the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) Annual Convention, taking place June 24-26, 2026, in New Orleans.

The session, titled “Breaking Through with Implicit Bias Evidence,” will explore how plaintiffs’ employment lawyers can effectively use implicit bias research in discrimination and harassment cases. Although decades of research have demonstrated that implicit bias influences workplace decision-making, introducing such evidence in litigation and connecting it to intentional discrimination or systemic practices can present significant challenges.

Sloane will moderate a discussion featuring Anna P. Prakash and Qiaojing “Ella” Zheng, who will examine the science behind implicit bias and share strategies for successfully presenting this evidence in employment cases.

The session is designed to provide practical guidance for attorneys seeking to strengthen discrimination and harassment claims through the thoughtful use of social science research and expert testimony.

Hosted by NELA, the nation’s largest professional organization dedicated to representing employees in labor and employment matters, the Annual Convention brings together workers’ rights advocates from across the country for education, networking, and discussions on emerging issues in employment law. KCNF is proud to support this year’s Convention as a President’s Cabinet sponsor.

The session will be held on Friday, June 26, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and may qualify for one hour of diversity, inclusion, and elimination of bias CLE credit.
