KCNF partner George Chuzi recently spoke to cyberFEDS® about new guidance from Safer Federal Workforce Task Force related to testing onsite employees and contractors who are either not fully vaccinated or do not provide their vaccination status.
George notes that the new guidance provides clarity for agencies. And while he “strongly suggests that agencies discuss with their unions any policy changes that will result from the guidance,” he also made note that contractors “who decline to be tested can have their contracts terminated for the government’s convenience.”
The cost of testing remains at “the government’s expense and on the government’s time – official time will be granted if during the workday, and overtime if after hours.” While not specifically mentioned in the guidance, George noted that an Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs claim for benefits would also be appropriate if an employee was infected at work.
